About

Catalogue of Currencies and Catalogue of Documents were expert systems filled with in detail information about security features of banknotes, coins, passports, id cards, etc. This information was gathered from central banks around the world and ministries of interiors from all countries in form of specimens and leaflets. My role was to get these information and update the expert systems.

These expert systems were used by banks exchanging money to check for counterfeits, vending machine providers, to check the consistence of coins or police departments and border enforcers to check for the travel documents originality.

The website was also selling detection devices. My role was to update the website with fresh details, prepare monthly newsletters and send them to subscribers.

Used skills

  • php (forms processing)
  • xml (the html data)
  • xslt (stylesheets)
  • CVS - cvs tortoise versioning system
  • FTP

Compiler generated static xHTML 1.0 Strict files from data in xml and xslt. New full website was compiled each time when any data in xml changed. The website was build as templating system, where data were stored in xml files and were connected together through layout templates. The xml files were styled by using own defined xslt. The styles were imported inline to html tags at compiling process. The website was deployed through FTP.
